The 1,100-mile quest begins from Mount Hood in Oregon and takes you to the beautiful Crater lake. The story is about bravery and how a traveller tries to achieve its strength back.
2. Into the wild – Sean Peen
Based on a true story, an American graduate abandons his proficient life in order to make his fantasy of living in the wilderness come true. He hikes across the country to reach the gorgeous surrounding of Alaska. The movie shows the different emotions of a young man going through ups and downs in his journey. And also teaches, no matter what the situation you face it will always teach you something.
3. Lost in translation – Sofia Coppola
Tokyo is one of the quirky places you will ever be and after watching this movie, you will surely agree with me. Lost in translation is a humor movie that covers some of the best spots in Tokyo. The movie is about two lonely humans in foreign land experiencing a different culture altogether.
4. Everest – Baltasar Kormakur
A move like this might scare you at one point of time but at the other, it inspires you to climb the highest mountain on earth. This movie captures some incredible surroundings in the Himalayas and also, the difficulty that a climber encounters when going on an adventure as treacherous as this. The movie is based on 1996 when eight people were caught in the storm and had died on Mount Everest while descending down after the summit.
5. Darjeeling limited – Wes Aderson
Three brothers undertake a quirky, colourful train adventure across India. They haven’t spoken in a year, but their father’s death gets them together to find their mother. The trio is seen bonding as they move through scenic places in India. The movie setup will give you a virtual tour to bustling cities and open spaces of Rajasthan.
6. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty – Ben Stiller
Imagine you are daydreaming about travel fantasies and the next minute you are travelling around the globe looking for a negative. Walter ( Ben Stiller ) is seen travelling to Greenland, Iceland and the Himalayas so he can save his boring dull desk job. The journey turns out to be very adventurous but so interesting, the ending is my favourite ( don’t worry, I won’t spoil it for you ). This film definitely taught me that great things only happen when you get out of the comfort zone.
7. THE BUCKET LIST – Rob Reiner
A heartwarming film that inspires you to be happy and do what you love before you leave this earth. The movie is about two elders who meet while getting treated for cancer. They decide to tick off their bucket list before dying, the movies take you through the Great Wall, an African safari and even to the Himalayas. To me, the film also reminds that life is too short, and we leave this planet without no regrets.
8. ONE WEEK – Michael McGowan
A movie that is said to be the love letter to Canada. It is about the motorcycle trip that Ben takes from Toronto to Tofino, British Columbia being diagnosed with terminal cancer. The movie covers famous Canadian landmarks to great Canadian musicians.
9. Encounters at the end of the world – Werner Herzog
The film is stunning and as well as very funny. It is about the community and animals who live in Antarctica. The movie involves people that work at the National Science Foundation research site and you will be surprised that most are all-time backpackers. If Antarctica is not your next destination yet, this documentary will do its magic.
10. Under the Tuscan sun – Audrey Wells
From the delicious wines, savoury food, remote lodges and picturesque rolling highlands are shown in the film. The film will motivate you to leave your urban life and settle somewhere far. The movie does justice depicting a gorgeous Italian countryside and a 16th-century home in Cortona as the villa.
